In the mid 70’s Paul helped Takashi Nakazato with firing in his Ryuta kiln. While helping, Paul met Shigeyoshi Morioka who is from Wakayama prefecture. The two started working together and Paul mastered wood firing. In the 80’s Paul returned to New York and let his works known to the world. He is an important figure within the relations between the Japanese and American ceramic community. His giant clay pieces are now parts of museum collections internationally; his most recent piece being included in a museum in Changwon, South Korea.
